Galvus Information :

Uses :

Vildagliptin is a member of the “dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4)” inhibitors class of anti-diabetic medications used to treat type 2 diabetes, particularly in individuals whose blood sugar levels are not under control with diet and exercise alone. You can take vildagliptin by itself or in combination with other medications. A chronic (long-lasting) illness that alters how our bodies use glucose is called type 2 diabetes. Insulin resistance is the condition in which people with type 2 diabetes either cannot produce enough insulin or the body is unable to use it. Adult-onset diabetes, commonly referred to as type 2 diabetes, is most common in people who are middle-aged or older.

To maximize the benefits, take it consistently at the same time every day. Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, don’t stop taking the medication. While taking this medication, it’s crucial to adhere to the diet and exercise regimen prescribed by your physician. A major factor in managing your diabetes is your lifestyle.

Precautions & Warnings :

Tell your doctor if you have any allergies, including Vildagliptin, to any other medications. It is not advised for children under the age of 18 to use Vildagliptin. Kindly let your doctor know before taking Vildagliptin if you are expecting, nursing, or receiving dialysis. When using Vildagliptin, avoid drinking alcohol as it may cause blood sugar levels to rise or fall. Patients with type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis should not take Vildagliptin. When using Vildagliptin, eat little, often, and refrain from fasting for extended periods of time. Watch out for signs of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which include a dry mouth, dry skin, frequent urination, palpitations, sweating, and shivering. If you encounter any of these symptoms, take 3 glucose biscuits, 5–6 candies, or 3 teaspoons of honey or sugar right away, and get medical help. Ensure that you always have these with you, especially on lengthy trips. Tell your doctor before taking Vildagliptin if you have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis (high blood acidity called ketones), pancreatitis, kidney, liver, or heart issues.
