Verapamil is a member of the calcium-channel blocker drug class. It functions by letting your heart and blood vessel muscles relax, which lessens the force of your heart’s pumping action. In order to regulate heart rate, verapamil also improves blood and oxygen flow to the heart and decreases cardiac electrical activity. Verapamil is used to treat certain heart rhythm abnormalities, angina (chest pain), and hypertension (high blood pressure).

Uses :

High blood pressure is treated with verapamil. Reducing hypertension can help avert heart attacks, strokes, and kidney issues. Verapamil is a member of the calcium channel blocker drug class. In order to facilitate easier blood flow, it relaxes blood vessels. Verapamil is also used to stop angina, or chest pain. It might improve your capacity for physical activity and lessen the frequency of angina episodes. If you have a fast or irregular heartbeat, verapamil is also used to regulate your heart rate (such as atrial fibrillation). By lowering heart rate, it makes you feel more at ease and improves your capacity for exercise.

You can take a verapamil tablet with or without food, but it’s best to take it as directed by your doctor, which is usually at a set time every day. Continue taking this medication even if you feel better. Your condition might get worse if you stop taking it abruptly. Precautions & Warnings :

Before taking this medication, discuss all of your medical history with your doctor or pharmacist, paying particular attention to any instances of heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, muscle/nerve disorders (muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis), heart failure, heart rhythm problems (such as second- or third-degree atrioventricular block, sick sinus syndrome unless you have a pacemaker, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome), and heart failure.

This medication may cause vertigo. Both marijuana and alcohol (cannabis) can increase vertigo. Until you can do so safely, avoid operating machinery, driving, or doing anything else that requires alertness. Don’t drink too much alcohol. See your physician if you use cannabis, also known as marijuana.

Inform your doctor or dentist about everything you use before surgery, including over-the-counter, prescription, and herbal products.

Elderly people may be more susceptible to this medication’s side effects, particularly constipation and edema in the ankles or feet.

This medication should only be used when absolutely necessary during pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about the advantages and disadvantages.

A nursing infant is unlikely to be harmed by this medication, even though it passes into breast milk. See your physician prior to nursing.

Overdose :

Missed Dose : 

Try to take it at the same day every day. Do not double the dose if missed.

Storage :

Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
