Generic Viagra is a medication primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Before beginning to take sildenafil and each time you receive a refill, read the Patient Information Leaflet, if one is available from your pharmacist. See your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Take this medication orally as prescribed by your physician to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), usually as needed. Take sildenafil 30 minutes or more before engaging in sexual activity, but no more than 4 hours (one hour is ideal). Never take more than once every day.

Eating a large meal may cause the medication to take longer to start working.

The dosage is determined by your health status, how you respond to treatment, and any additional medications you may be taking. Make sure your pharmacist and doctor are aware of everything you use, including over-the-counter, prescription, and herbal products.

If you have any allergies, or suspect any more allergies, let your doctor or pharmacist know before starting sildenafil. This product contains inactive ingredients that may cause allergic reactions or other problems. See your pharmacist for additional information.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist about any medical history you may have, especially if it includes any of the following: conditions that may increase your risk of priapism (sickle cell anemia, leukemia, multiple myeloma); conditions related to your heart (heart attack, life-threatening irregular heartbeat, stroke, kidney disease, liver disease, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, dehydration); and conditions related to your eyes (retinitis pigmentosa, sudden decreased vision, NAION).

This medication may cause blurred vision or dizziness. Both marijuana and alcohol (cannabis) can increase vertigo. Until you can do so safely, avoid operating machinery, driving, or doing anything else that requires focus or sharp vision. Don’t drink too much alcohol. See your physician if you use cannabis, also known as marijuana.

Inform your doctor or dentist about everything you use before surgery, including over-the-counter, prescription, and herbal products.

Use of sildenafil during pregnancy should only be done when absolutely necessary. Please continue taking this medication as prescribed by your doctor. High blood pressure in the lungs is a dangerous condition that can harm a pregnant woman and her unborn child. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of sildenafil use with your doctor if you intend to become pregnant, are already pregnant, or suspect you might be pregnant.

This medication excretes in small amounts in breast milk. Consult your doctor before starting nursing.

Side Effects :

There could be headaches, flushing, upset stomachs, or dizziness. Visual abnormalities like heightened light sensitivity, blurred vision, or difficulty differentiating between the colors blue and green can also happen. Notify your pharmacist or doctor right away if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

When getting out of a sitting or lying position, take it slowly to lessen the chance of experiencing lightheadedness and dizziness.

Recall that your doctor has prescribed this medication because they believe it will benefit you more than it will cause negative side effects. Many users of this medication report no significant adverse effects.

It can strain your heart more to have sex, especially if you already have heart problems. If you have heart issues, you should stop having sex as soon as you experience any of these serious side effects: extreme dizziness, fainting, or pain in the left arm, jaw, or chest.

Rarely, one or both eyes may experience abrupt decreased vision, including permanent blindness (NAION). If this severe issue arises, cease taking sildenafil and seek immediate medical attention. Heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, some other eye conditions (such as “crowded disk”), smoking, being older than 50, and high blood pressure all slightly increase your risk of developing NAION.

In rare cases, there may be a sudden loss of hearing, sometimes accompanied by vertigo and ringing in the ears. If these side effects appear, stop taking sildenafil and get medical attention right away.

Should you experience an excruciating or prolonged erection that lasts for four hours or longer, discontinue using this medication immediately and seek medical attention to avoid any long-term complications.

Rarely, this medication can cause a very serious allergic reaction. However, if you experience any of the following signs of a serious allergic reaction, get medical attention right away: rash, breathing difficulties, severe dizziness, itching or swelling, especially in the face, tongue, or throat.

To reduce your chance of experiencing low blood pressure, your doctor might begin your sildenafil treatment at a lower dose.

The way that other medications affect your body’s ability to eliminate sildenafil could have an impact on how well sildenafil functions. Examples include mifepristone, rifampin, ritonavir, HIV protease inhibitors (like saquinavir), macrolide antibiotics (like clarithromycin, erythromycin), azole antifungals (like itraconazole, ketoconazole), and others.

This medication should not be taken with any other product that contains sildenafil or other comparable drugs (vardenafil, tadalafil) for pulmonary hypertension or erectile dysfunction (ED).

Overdose :

If someone has overdosed and is experiencing severe symptoms, such as unconsciousness or difficulty breathing, call 911. If not, immediately contact a poison control center.
